Closing one chapter to fully embrace another

On July 1, I officially handed over the keys to NICO Underwear.
It marked the end of one of the most rewarding and transformative chapters of my career.
When I bought NICO, I wasn't just acquiring a business. I was stepping into entrepreneurship for the first time.
After more than a decade as a journalist, I wanted to understand what it meant to build something, make decisions that carried real financial consequences, and take responsibility for every success and every setback.
NICO gave me that opportunity.
Over the past two years, I have learnt lessons no book, podcast, or business course could have taught me.
I learnt how to make decisions with imperfect information. How to manage cash flow, suppliers, and customers. How to lead through uncertainty. How to celebrate the wins and own the mistakes.
Most of all, I learnt what it really means to build a business.
But somewhere along the way, something else was growing.
What started as my own experience of freezing my eggs at 28 became PreservHer - a mission to make fertility education more accessible so women can make informed decisions before they're under pressure.
The more time I spent speaking with women, creating educational resources, and advocating for earlier fertility awareness, the clearer it became that this was where I was meant to focus.
As much as I loved NICO and believed in the brand, I knew I couldn't give both businesses the attention they deserved.
It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one.
Sometimes growth doesn't come from doing more.
Sometimes it comes from having the courage to let go of something good so you can fully commit to something you believe can make an even greater impact.
Coincidentally, the day I handed over NICO was also the day PreservHer celebrated its first birthday.
It felt symbolic.
One chapter closed.
Another began its second year.
To every customer who chose NICO during my time as owner - thank you. Every order, message, and word of encouragement meant more than you probably realised.
I'm incredibly proud of what we achieved together and deeply grateful to our suppliers, our team, and everyone who believed in the brand's mission.
I'm equally grateful that NICO has found a new owner who shares a genuine passion for the brand and its future.
As for me, my focus is now entirely on PreservHer.
There is still so much work to do.
I want more women to understand their fertility earlier. I want better access to evidence-based education. I want conversations about egg freezing and reproductive health to become more open, less intimidating, and far more common than they are today.
NICO taught me how to build a business.
PreservHer reminds me why I'm building one.
Thank you, NICO, for everything you taught me.
And here's to what's next.
